REVIEWS

"For some children it could, indeed, give wings to their imagination..."
The Association of Teachers of Mathematics

"You really can't go wrong with Imagine. It is a thousand programs rolled into one..."
Sue Broadbent, Waterloo and Moorside Primary Schools

"...any project that has been created can be saved as a stand-alone .exe file, or as a web page. Pupils are thus encouraged to think about audience during the authoring process..."
Jackie Prouse, Bradley Barton Primary School

"This is a situation in which ICT has been used as a tool to express, but also to explore, the imagination of each individual pupil."
Louise Siaw, Penwortham Primary School

Simple Turtle

Simple Turtle is an open framework application created in Imagine Logo to allow younger children to become familiar with controlling a turtle interactivity and begin to build procedures.

The procedures are stored as visual 'stamps' with a picture of the behaviour of each stamp in miniature on its front. Up to 12 stamps can be created, and sets of stamps can be saved and loaded. Using the extra stamp designer, you can quickly create interesting compositions using your turtle stamps...

The Stamp toolbar:

A selection of stamps is available to choose from at the bottom of the screen. You can create and save your own to this selection. You can also modify existing stamps.

To do this, first click on a stamp, so that the image appears on the screen:

Clicking on the small yellow tab to the left of a stamp allows you to edit the stamp in the Command Window.

The Turtle toolbox:

Clicking on the icon shows the turtle toolbox on the main screen. Clicking on the arrows lets you choose a direction for your turtle to go in. This can be forward, back, left or right.

If you choose to go forward or back, you will be given a choice of three distances (10, 20, and 50 pixels)

If you choose to go left or right, you will be given a choice of three angles to rotate through (30º, 45º, and 90º).
